Zoe Emilie is a fabulous and incredibly affordable accessories website. It showcases a gorgeous, curated assortment of jewelry and scarves hand picked by the owner, Zoe! In fact, you might even be lucky enough to scoop up one of her handmade pieces found here.

Zoe and I worked together for years at a luxury jewelry company called Hearts On Fire, so when she told me she was starting her own business I wasn't surprised. Her natural eye for color, style and background in jewelry are all proof that she should be showing the world the latest trends! I have always admired how timeless and sophisticated Zoe is and I love that she passes that onto the customer in her design choices. Feel confident and happy knowing that whatever you purchase from this fashionista is sure to turn heads!

When we discussed doing a collaboration, I couldn't have been more excited to help support Zoe's brand and of course get a little photo session in with the one and only Will Mann! Beacon Hill was a wonderful backdrop on a chilly March day! The Zoe Emilie Star Infinity Scarf was the perfect choice to keep me warm -it is super soft and flowy. You will see throughout the images how it falls effortlessly around my neck - I want one in every design! And at this price you can buy one for yourself and your friend - $18-$24!!

Let this scarf be your transitional piece! The weather can only get warmer and the days longer, but you will still need layers. This scarf will keep you looking chic and warm, but also won't weigh you down. I even imagine bringing it on the boat this summer for cool nights on the water (#agalcandream :o)!

Instadore: FEEL GOOD and Be Happy

The best part about the social media app, Instagram, is that it is all about GOOD, POSITIVE things in our lives! Very rarely do people moan, complain, or talk about the cold! This week's Instadore goes out to all of the things that made me feel good and happy on Instagram this week!! A special THANK YOU to all of my friends, family, and brands that I follow for making me SMILE! Everyone does such cool things every day and I feel fortunate to witness it all through pictures....love it!

Hope these shots make you feel happy too! Pharrell Williams kinda says it best in his annoying, yet infectious song....

Have a fun, HAPPY, fashionable week,

kiki

Spotlight on: Cuyana

Sustainable style. Much like Everlane (blog post seen here), Cuyana (meaning "love") is a brand with a message and a heart.

The quick of it:

- Fewer, better things. Love every item in your closet and get rid of the things that you are ho-hum about. See their lean closet challenge here. It's a genius philosophy - leaner closet, fuller life. After reading this it will make you want to start purging!

- Treasure the art of buying a piece for your closet. Have a story to tell about how you acquired it, on a vacation, from your grandmother, or in a vintage shop. Own it.

- Fashion can be more fulfilling and soulful. Allow it in.

- Amazing quality and products to last a lifetime. Nothing trendy here, folks! Classic and timeless is the name of the game.

CUYANA power point.jpg

Puppy Popper Love: Part of a Well Balanced Wardrobe

photo.jpg

Unconditional love. That's all that man's best friend wants to give. Licks, kisses, nose-nudges, wagging tails, yips, barks, and pure, innocent love. With no expectations in return.

Dog people are special people. We make exceptions for hair on our couches, wet paw prints on our floor, and the occasional squeaky toy under our foot. Often we would rather spend a couple hours wandering in the woods with our four-legged friends then shopping at the mall. Or we would rather be snuggled on the couch with our favorite lap buddy then sitting in a cold movie theater watching a movie. We make these choices because of unconditional love.

Every time I am too tired to take my dogs for a walk or too rushed to give them an extra pat on the head, I think about my mom's words of wisdom: their world is only as big as we make it. And that's my motivation to be a good doggie mom!

This Valentine's Day I will be spending my time with friends at dinner as the fifth wheel...which will be cheery in the absence of my traveling hubby. The best thought is knowing I will be greeted by two favorite smoochie butts when I arrive home!

photo (19).jpg

I like to show my puppies how much I love them by making these delish treats (can be eaten by humans too, although be warned, they are bland for our pallets)! The beauty is that these are GRAIN FREE!!

PEANUT BUTTER PUPPY POPPERS

2 Cups of Organic Rolled Oats (you can either throw them in the cuisinart or leave them as is)

1 TBSP Baking Powder

1 Cup Peanut Butter (I try to stick to organic when I can, but sometimes the separation is too oily/wet)

1 Cup Organic Milk

Preheat oven to 375. Mix the rolled oats and baking powder together in one bowl. Mix the peanut butter and milk together in another one until creamy. Combine. Consistency should be sticky but not too sticky to roll out and cut with a cookie cutter. Roll into a ball. Flour (I use Almond Meal) your flat surface and roll out until poppers are about 1/4" thick and cut them with your choice of cutter. Place on non-stick baking sheets and bake for about 15 minutes (plus or minus depending on your oven) until the cookies start to "tan" and get brown around the edges. Take them out and let them cool! Package them up and spread the love to your other puppy friends!!

photo_4.jpg

If you are feeling extra generous and want to spread the Valentine's love to some puppies in need, here are a couple of my favorite rescue sites that I support whenever I can! They are doing such wonderful things to help our buddies find good homes, be well-fed, and medically cared for....

Detroit Dog Rescue

North Shore Animal League

Dogs may not be our whole life, but they make our lives whole. Unconditional love. It's something to behold.

Have a fun, fashionable, doggie kiss-filled Valentine's Day,

kiki

Valentine's Day

You know that old saying, "seeing life through rose colored glasses"? Shouldn't it be "seeing life through dusty rose colored glasses"? Life is messy - even when you want to see it in the most positive light! It is not perfect and we are not perfect! BUT - that's ok - it is still BEAUTIFUL - a beautiful mess!

I have never been into roses, sappy music, or Valentine's Day in general, but I do love anything feminine! I have also never been one to sport pink on the regular, but there is something about this dusty rose color that is fresh and fun. And in the dead of winter on these negative 2 degree mornings, it's just the right glimpse of spring!  If you decide to dress up a little this Friday (V Day), why not go with dusty rose instead of red?

See the one you love through dusty rose colored glasses...... 'cause remember... that's the beauty of love - even when you are old and dusty that person will be there for you! :o)

#1.jpg
#2.jpg
#3.jpg

1. Josie Maran Aragan Oil - okay, okay so it's just the packaging that is dusty rose, but it's what's inside that will make you GLOW!!! I was a skeptic when all of these face oils came out, especially as a woman with blemish prone skin, but this has revolutionized my beauty routine! I am completely converted. I have lighter sun spots, less wrinkles, fewer blemishes, and more of a glow to my face. It's lightweight, yet hydrating! Mix a few drops in with your daily moisturizer and wait for an incredible transformation.

2. J. Crew Elbow Shirt - Perfect tucked into a high waist skirt or worn loose with jeans and under a bulky sweater. Best part is that I scored it on sale for $14.99!!

3. OPI Dulce de Leche - This nailpolish is suchy a dreamy blushy pink, even with one coat!

4. Anthropologie Poncho/Cape - No longer available, but similar here. I bought this on a whim at Anthro and it's been the best purchase, especially with my long elbow-length gloves! I feel like Audrey Hepburn (or a less slim, less chic version anyway :o))

5. My Gram's Button Earrings - these are vintage, folks! Can't find these 1960's gems anywhere and they were my grandma Alice's, but... these Kate Spade earrings are so ridiculously adorable - check 'em out!

6. Foley and Corinna Mid City Tote - this is a convertible tote - great for people who travel a lot and with multiple items. The color is perfect - a slash between nude/pink and goes with everything. Worth the investment!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have a fun, fashionable week,

kiki

Happy 40th to My Favorite Magician!

This past week, my dear friend, William Mann (of Will Mann Photography) turned 40. He is one of the most special people in my life...caring, kind, considerate and excellent at capturing all of life's moments with his amazing eye. It's kind of unfair, really, the way he always has his camera on him, waiting to take the next great memory for all of his friends. It's a burden that only someone like him can take on so gracefully...

This post is an homage to Will through his medium of choice, photography. It's a compilation of my favorite pics he has taken during our personal photo sessions, my best friend's wedding, shots from our everyday life that are just plain gorgeous, and amateur pictures that we have somehow managed to snap of him...

I will let the images speak for themselves, but I do want to thank Will for filling my life with fun times, good chats, and photographs that will be around long after our time on this planet. You get to bear witness to so many people's lives and enrich them in a way that no one else can. I don't call you the magician for nothing! Here's to another 40 years of making memories! Love ya!

Polar Vortex Blues

I am a runner and a yogi. I also have the blues, PVB, the Polar Vortex Blues. After the holidays when I was detoxing my body from all the salty, fatty food and sugary, delicious cookies, I fell into a slump. I was still working out, but the hours spent at Barre, yoga, and bundled up on the road in my running shoes felt deflated, depressed, and lethargic.

RUNNING with PVB: In Boston, we have had dramatically low temps, arctic blasts, and polar vortexes that make being outside miserable. Now, being a hearty New Englander, I think the perfect running temperature is 35-40 degrees. Cold enough to wear layers, but warm enough to not be too bulky and weighed down. Unfortunately we haven't been blessed with too many of these days since the new year began. So instead of long runs during the week, I have been working on my sprints and suicides. But, I prefer (and love, I know I am crazy) long runs. And so....I needed to figure out what workout gear was going to make me warm even when the PVB hits and the temps dip into to -8 degrees. (just writing it makes me cold...brrr).

YOGA/BARRE with PVB: Yoga and Barre are awesome because they are the ultimate counter to running. Yoga helps build strength and muscle tone, while Barre gets into the crevices of your body and works muscles you didn't even know you had, all without weights! Yoga is 98+ degrees which is quite polarizing when it comes to the outside temp. The sweat is cathartic and the mental health benefits cannot be matched! So, how could I get myself jazzed to go 2-3 times a week without breaking the bank on new gear?

I have never been one to spend tons of money on workout clothes. I buy $50 sneakers because I change them out every 4 months depending on how many miles have accumulated and most of my pants are either Old Navy, Champion (at Target), Under Armour and my tops I splurge a little more on for added support. Lululemon has always been my go-to. Until recently when I needed to put some serious pep in my step and pull myself out of the Polar Vortex Blues!

Here's how I did it....

Sweaty Betty: Such a cool brand. British brand on a great mission in just 7 core beliefs:

1. HEALTHY AND FIT = HAPPY (I say can I get an AMEN??)

2. DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY: they strive to make a lasting contribution and to change the way women are perceived in the fitness world! And of course their workout styles are on the cutting edge..

3. BORDERING OBSESSIVE: similar to those that work out with passion, Sweaty Betty makes their business their top priority, while maintaining a balance of friends and family! What we should all do in our daily lives!

4. TESTING: they make sure each product they create passes the test, does it perform? Is it beautiful? Will it inspire you to work out? Love this.

5. PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH: Sharing the energy! Explaining the benefits. They live life the way they want you to!

6. EARN OUR PLACE: They work hard in their community to earn their place as a master of well-being! Again, what we should all try to do in our daily lives.

7. NO ONE IS PERFECT: Believe in healthy living, but have fun! And always sneak a cookie or two!

My two recent purchases are great for all of my activities...

New Leggings - stirrups, contoured ruching and a seamless look to smooth out my lumps and bumps from all that holiday eating! :o)

Two In One Tank - Versatile two- in one yoga/running tank with a fully detachable bra and contrast top. Love how sexy, yet sweet this top is. Two in one baby!

Beyond Yoga - A celeb fave brand - here is their scoop -  Designed with every body type in mind, BEYOND YOGA believes that every woman should celebrate their body. Beauty is not a size, it’s a state of mind. Made with love in the U.S.A.!! YES LOVE THIS.  These collections are produced to fit every body type– petite to curvy. Each piece is designed/tested to ensure comfort and functionality–from bra straps providing adequate support to elastic-free waistbands preventing uncomfortable digging and bulging.

Gathered Long Leggings - might be the absolute best leggings I have ever purchased. Love the length, the ruching and the fact that I wore them on a snowy run the other night and they kept me warm and dry. Not to mention that they are SUPER flattering. Well done. I will be ordering in other colors. I highly highly recommend giving this brand a whirl if you have never heard of them.

LuluLemon Top - always a classic. Loving the stripes and the Y back strap back right now!

Ohhh Lulu! This video not only shows the incredible new tech they have for people who run at night or early in the morning, but doesn't this video just get you all fired up to RUN?? :o)

Either way, buying new gear always gets me out of the slump or the PVB (Polar Vortex Blues) which I was having a bad case of until some of these packages showed up at my door. So try out some new products and get re-energized by these wonderful brands and their mission statements! To make us all WANT TO BE FIT and LOOK GOOD DOING IT!

And don't forget to follow my friend Sherri on her blog - FUN FIT FLAVOR (click to go to her most recent post). She has great recipes to keep you motivated and healthy!

Have a fabulous, fashionable weekend! Fight those PVB's!!

All About Him: Holiday Date Night and the Perfect Gift

'Tis the season for holiday date nights (hopefully this season lasts all year long!) and exchanging gifts with the one that holds your heart! Every year, Bryce and I treat ourselves to a nice dinner before the hustle/bustle of the holiday. Just the two of us. It gives us a chance to reflect on the past year and what our lives mean to each other. It's a nice way to celebrate before the big celebration of being surrounded by friends and our extended family.

Below are some quick gift ideas for the man in your life and of course the perfect outfit to compliment your holiday night out on the town! It's officially December, so now is the time!

Buying for the man in your life.jpg

Party Animal - The Burton Lil' Buddy is just right for the guy who likes to party on the go! It's a three-in-one with stereo to blast his fave tunes, a cooler to hold all of his libations, and a built-in bottle opener for convenience. Under $100 on www.burton.com

Tech Head - Inside every man is a little boy. The Helo TC Chopper is controlled by his cell phone and flies wherever his heart desires! Find it on www.griffintechnology.com for under $50.

Ultimate Prepster - You know who this guy is! Lots of local New England Companies tout "made in the USA" and live up to the classic preppy look. Kiel James Patrick, a Rhode Island based business, has everything you need if this is your man! Like this Leather Anchor Belt for $85.00.

Modern Man - Thrill him with this Nixon "The Platform"  watch! Sleek black with edgy neon accents on the face. $200.00 and worth every penny.

Practical Dude - I have posted about the company Everlane before (here) and how fantastic they are. All about keeping costs low by cutting the middle man. This sweatshirt is such a practical cut, color, and fabric. Stylish yet simple and clean. Terry Cloth for $45 - check it out on www.everlane.com.

Outdoor Adventurer - I can't say enough about this. My brother has one and it is so great for the guy (or gal) that hikes, bikes, snowboards, surfs, runs, and pretty much moves in any active way! It is the best way to capture his entire journey from a perspective that he can't get from a plain, old camera. $399.00 for the big mama jama, but according to my extreme sportsman brother even the base model is amazing! Find it HERE and get ready for the adventures ahead!

date nught outfit.jpg

Sticking with the holiday theme of "KISS: Keep It Simple Santa", the above outfit is just that! Chic, but comfortable and breathable (in case you make extra room for dessert), you will be sure to turn your guy's head as you step out for a nice dinner.

Kate Spade "Lela" Pumps - These are a splurge, so if your wallet does stretch this wide, by all means throw on the classic black pumps in your closet. Always a winner!  I just think that these are so pretty with a splash of gold stars!

Anthropologie Spacedye Dress - A lovely way to build your LBD wardrobe, with just a little sparkle running through the thread! If you read the reviews there is one thing that is consistent - it's flattering on the bod!

Anthropologie Lasso Necklace - A faux layered look is easy to slide on! My theory is if you wear a statement necklace there is no need for much else!

Gorjana Clara Necklace - As always Gorjana is on my fave list! This ring is so beautiful and continues the understated twinkle throughout the outfit.

Hope this gets the ideas flowing! Have a fun, fashionable week! Enjoy the holiday season!

KISS: Perfect Holiday Outfit, Perfect Hostess Gift

I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS! Things sure are busy this time of year - with cookies to be baked, gifts to be purchased, parties to be attended, and families to be reunited. My credo this season is: KISS - KEEP. IT. SIMPLE. SANTA. From your mistletoe to your pinky toe - relax and enjoy being with the people you love. Everything else will fall into place - it always does! So in keeping with my motto....

hostess with the mostess.jpg

It's always a challenge to figure out what to get a hostess who has everything! Here are four gift ideas that will be well-used and loved... (click the links below!)

1. The Perfect Ornament- I don't know about you, but I absolutely cherish my box of ornaments that I have collected through the years. Each one has a memory, a face, a twinkle from the past.... Anthropologie searches far and wide for the coolest of the cool. It's a classic gift that you can never go wrong with!

2. The Perfect Bottle of Wine (w/ a twist) - The holidays are all about celebrating with lots of cheers! Lately I have been consuming a lot (at the risk of sounding like a lush) of Nebbiolo (learn more). It's smooth and delicious, the grape is from the Piedmont region of Italy and it is truly a delight! My favorite kind is GUIDOBONO LANGHE NEBBIOLO for roughly around $12.99. Which leaves enough room in the budget to wrap it in a cool, monogrammed wine tote from Mark and Graham

3. The Perfect Written Word - With all of the hustle and bustle/technology we encounter on the daily, sometimes it's nice to slow down and write a note! This sticky note set by Jonathan Adler is absolutely kitschy, light, and fun! And the kicker - it's only $10! Secret Santa gift anyone?

4. The Perfect Hands - For decades, Crabtree and Evelyn has been the leader in hand care! As the cold sets in and our skin gets dry, there is nothing more nourishing than their ultra-moisturizing hand therapy! Crabtree's nail polish is also pretty fabulous with lots of colors to choose from. And why not complete this feminine chic gift with one of their divine manicure kits? 4 different metallics to choose from! Love!

KISS Outfit.jpg

Do yourself a favor and have 1 GO-TO outfit for the season! It will alleviate a lot of unnecessary time rifling through your closet. Play on trends, but don't go overboard, pop of color, but not too much..... KISS!!

1. The Glitzy Top - a little sparkle dresses up ANY outfit! This little art-deco number is adorable and on sale on Piperlime for 30% off through tomorrow (the 27th)! Get it while you can!

2. The Statement Bracelet - I am obsessed with the Ropes bracelets. I have one and wear it all the time. It's big, chunky, and needs no explanation.

3. Like...WHOA pants - faux leather is sexy, cool, and fun! Great overall addition to the wardrobe. Can be super dressed up or down depending on how you accessorize! These are also on sale - visit Piperlime for 40% off through tomorrow (the 27th).

4. Grrr Baby (and a splash of green) - these C.Wonder earrings are just a tad wild! And they add a pop of green to remind you that it's the holidays.

5.  Royal Clutch - what I love most about this C.Wonder bag is the color - picture this: you are sipping your Nebbiolo, someone bumps into your arm and you spill..... well it doesn't matter, does it? It's wine colored!

6. Wine Colored Pumps - perfect for holidays, perfect for post-holidays! Get on DSW to check these out.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Repeat this mantra: KEEP IT SIMPLE SANTA!

KISS,

kiki

A Stolen Idea: Zara Lookbook

When Zara launches their monthly lookbooks they are so inspiring! Some of it's wild. Some of it's not applicable to everyday life. Some of it's super edgy and can't be pulled off. And then some of it can be taken in concept and made your own!

zarainspire.jpg

When I saw the above outfit in the Zara November lookbook I got super excited! I have been searching for a way to wear a leather peplum tank that I got from Zara last spring. I have only worn it twice because it isn't that, errrr, work appropriate and never felt quite right under a blazer. The one feautured above can be found here for $79.90.

overview.jpg

Here's how I put this stolen look together...

Leather Peplum tank (Zara: old, similar here or here) /  Splendid turtleneck here - go for a thin and tight one /  Jessica Simpson Black/Gold Pumps (old, but similar here - I love these)  /  H&M plaid pants here

leather and plaid.jpg

Remember:

- keep it simple. A tight top should be paired with a looser pant.

- when wearing a top like a peplum that creates/accentuates your curves, it's important to have balance. Add a pointy shoe because it visually elongates the legs so they appear longer and leaner.

- plaid is a great choice for your winter pants wardrobe, but choose a subdued color scheme, The pattern is already loud enough, it doesn't need to be bright too!

I love a stolen idea....but it's always critical to adapt it to your style and stay true to who you are!!!

Have a fun, fashionable day!

Denim Refresher

Good old fashioned denim. It's been overtaken by leather, by faux leather, by patterns,  by color, and by every other trend in the book.

Think about it, denim is the most versatile piece of clothing in your wardrobe. So whether you have a thousand pairs or one, let this post be a refresher and an homage to simple, perfect denim.

Black Leggings.jpg

I have had these Citizens of Humanity black jeans for probably 5 years... might be time to replace them, but I can't help it, they are my favorite. They are comfortable, last forever, are super slimming, and go with everything. The best part - you can get away with them in a business casual work environment because they aren't traditional jeans and can pass as trousers. Citizens of Humanity "Avedon", $178

Straight leg are wonderful - they offer the same slimming factors as a skinny, but they also elongate the legs and look amazing with a pair of pumps. This J Brand pair creates a perky backside too! J Brand 914 Straight Leg Jeans in Pure, $169.

bootcut.jpg

Sometimes it's OK to wear something that's been around forever. These jeans are just that. Signature back flap pocket, traditional boot cut silhouette. I have worn mine so thin that there are holes in the knees, but they are still cute! Hudson Signature Flap Pocket , $192

ultimate skinny.jpg

When the world accepted skinnies with open arms back in 2005, who would have thought they were here to stay? The most versatile pair in your closet - if these Paige jeans ($158) are out of your price range, I also love these Levis ($78) and these ASOS ($49.83).

Nothing wrong with going back to basics. Denim might be, in fact, the perfect piece of clothing.

With most posts I try to assort with low, mid, and high price points. Denim that fits well and lasts is an investment. If you purchase 1 unbelievable pair a season it will be worth it, I promise.

Coat Patrol

Coats are having a moment. In New England we are reluctantly embracing the cold that's quickly approaching. I love the Fall. I am also one of those crazy people who likes to bundle up with a fantastic coat, boots, hat, and a big, cozy scarf. I guess that's what makes me a true New England gal and I am OK with it.

My fellow New England gals understand that the coat is part of their uniform - what they wear to commute, to head into the office, to meet friends for drinks, go on a romantic date, or attend that fabulous holiday party - it's the first thing people see. And it should make a statement and they should feel special wearing it - with just enough pizazz to for a distinct point of difference, but also timeless enough to transcend seasons....

Here are my top coats as we head into winter, no matter what your budget!

Cropped Top Meets Midi Skirt: Build an Outfit

One of my favorite trends that carried over into fall is the midi skirt, mostly because I have a closet of them that I haven't worn for years! A way to modernize what you have tucked away in storage is to add a cropped top. Not the belly-baring cropped top that you might find at Coachella (although clearly there is a time and place for this), but something on the more structured, edgy, yet conservative side.

Although I don't believe fashion should have rules, I do believe that sometimes it's good to keep things classy by abiding by a couple "rules of thumb":

1. To make a cropped top and midi "work appropriate", it's critical to not show skin. How to avoid? Wear a high waist skirt so the shirt overlaps just enough. Zara does it best in their fall collection - check it out here.

2. Stick to a simple pallet for both the midi and the cropped top. Stripes and solids. Neutral colors. Red is definitely OK too!

3. Midis can be a funky length, so be sure to elongate your legs by wearing a fun bootie, shootie, or pointed toe pump.

4. Compliment your midi/crop outfit with big pieces of jewelry that have understated design elements.

An Element of Surprise

Embrace unexpected details on blouses. From behind. Shock 'em!

Pleats, leather details, cut-outs, sequins, studs, peek-a-boo elements, zippers, and elbow patches. Check out how I have added these pieces into my wardrobe and how you can too!

Maison Jules Sweater w/ chiffon, $69 / Rebecca Taylor (scored on sale in navy - no longer available), $88, similar here

Buttons, Lace, and Hearts, OH MY >> Cooper and Ella Blouse, $125 /  Zara Lace Back Blouse, $39.90  /  Asos Heart Elbow Patches and Stripes, $37.13

The sky is the limit - don't shy away from bows, ties, patterns, fur, stripes, and any other embellishment you can imagine! As always, have fun with fashion and do what feels right for you!

Have a fun, fashionable day,

Spotlight on: Everlane

About 6 months ago, in my quest to find the perfect white tee I discovered a LA company called Everlane. Their motto is perfectly simple, just like their tees, "Know your factories, Know your costs, Always ask why." And it's true - why should tees be so bloody expensive? And why can't we trust that most companies will be honest about where their product is manufactured? Not Everlane - they practice complete transparency. Their product is sewn within minutes from their headquarters and because they work factory direct they are able to offer everything at an extremely affordable price.  If that doesn't make you want to purchase from their site then their affordable, fantastic tees (among other casual chic offerings) will. Do yourself a favor and check them out here!

The above is the one that I purchased several months ago.  I also picked up a basic crew neck version for Bryce. We both go through white tees a couple times a year, but they are such an important staple in your wardrobe that it's important to always have fresh, well-fitted ones! Since their launch really expanded their assortment by adding in accessories and other versions of their basic tees. Loving the colors too!

The High-Low Belt at $40 is so versatile! It can go from waist to hip seamlessly!

Men's Slim Fit Oxford for $55                  /                 Men's Perfect Crew Neck Tee $15

I know this post doesn't have a whole lot of pizzazz and isn't super fashion-y, but these items offer a way to build a strong wardrobe with minimal effort and money spent. The fabric is beautiful, the cut is flattering, and the company is ethically run. It's a trifecta! I can't wait until our next purchase from Everlane

Have a fun, fashionable day,

Dress Over: Build An Outfit

I have a love/hate relationship with blogging. Today I have decided to love.

Fall is quickly approaching and much like blogging, I have a love/hate relationship with transition clothing. One easy way to tackle this is to layer unexpected items together to stay warm on cool mornings, cool in the mid-day sun, and warm again when the sun goes down....

DOJ: Dress Over Jeans

SOJ: Skirt Over Jeans

There is no right or wrong, but I do love a super feminine twist by adding a dress/tunic or skirt that has a sweet "poof" to it... Below are some of my favorite bloggers (and one designer) takes on this boho chic look....

My take....

Inspiration: Savannah and the Gals

Gal's Weekend Spring 2013 - Savannah, Georgia. Funny things happened on the way to Savannah, including a trip through the bowels of Logan Airport with a funny man named Roscoe, a bag o' free booze from our flight attendant, and an unexpected layover in Atlanta. Followed by a massive hang-over.....but we got there and it was amazingly worth it.

map_of_savannah_ga.jpg

The most haunted city in America is gorgeous. Filled with weeping willows covered in Spanish moss, old mansions steeped in history, a riverfront that lights up with life, and parks brimming with Southern hospitality and charm.

This book was the fifth wheel the whole trip. She came EVERYWHERE with us and for good reason - it's written by a local who has all of the IN's on restaurants, cafes, nightlife, and tourism. Thanks Meredith! (Find it here)

THE book.jpg

Not that we need a reason to travel, but this time there was a lot to celebrate - Whitney graduated with her MBA and was turning 30, Diana was celebrating her 31st year and mom's day, and we were all repairing our bruised hearts from the abuse our city had just endured. Perfect culmination.

Outfits of Savannah.....there were many and I certainly didn't capture them all. One thing is for sure - we all have our own style and personality which comes out in our clothing choices.

Diana - The Classic. We called her a Kennedy all weekend. Crisp, cool colors and clean lines. She takes basics and makes them cool.

Whitney - Lilly Pulitzer meets Vineyard Vines. Preppy with a nautical twist. Not afraid of a loud print, but also loves stars and stripes. Digs a sports watch with pretty much every outfit :o).

Tiffany - Casual Chic. Loves comfortable, easy breezy sundresses but shows her wild side by mixing in some animal...grrr baby!

Kiki (me) - Hard to define oneself, but I would say Bohemian with a Twist. Likes to challenge the trends, but also stay true to my pseudo-hippy roots.

Go to SAVANNAH! We didn't get to do half the things we wanted to, but here are some "not to miss" adventures....

The Bohemian Hotel - we spent a lot of time on their roof deck overlooking the city and drinking D&S's; Forsyth Park for people watching and walking; Gallery Espresso for the yummy coffee; SoHo South Cafe for ridiculous food and a cool, eclectic atmosphere; Red Clover for super sweet (affordable) clothes (D - they have an online store); Oliver Bentley's  for homemade ginger doggie treats; and Bonaventure Cemetery to pretend you are in the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil....

I read a quote once that I love - True Friendship isn't about who came first and who you've known the longest, it's about who came and never left.

I am thankful for Whit, Diana, and Tiff. I love you ladies like sistahs. Thanks for being in my life, always. Now....WHERE TO NEXT???

love,

kiki

Quilted Vest: Build an Outfit

Striving to look different is a hard thing when affordable fashion tends to be fairly homogeneous. This Build an Outfit is not meant to "wow you", "blow your mind" or "re-invent fashion", but simply to show how one unexpected piece can take a monochromatic pallet and give it life!

Zara Vest.jpg

I am loving white on white for summer and the crisp freshness that silver jewelry adds!

1. TopShop Flowy White Tank - every gal should own one! This TopShop version is perfect.

2. Hudson White Jeans - Hudson makes a beautiful pair of jeans that are slimming through the hips and butt! These skinny whites will be a great summer staple!

3.  Zara Quilted Vest - the HERO of this outfit. I waited for it to go on sale and it finally did! The cap-sleeves are super flattering on the delts and triceps.

4. Gorjana Sandals  - so comfy, cute, and neutral! I have a pair of these that I purchased a million years ago from J. Crew and I still wear them all the time.

5. Jennifer Zeuner Wishbone Anklet -  love a wishbone, especially in anklet form.

6.  Jennifer Zeuner "Letter" Necklace  - a monogram is always a good idea.

7. Ippolita Cuff  - all in a dream on this one.....she's a bad mama jama!

have a fun, fashionable week,
